trust
The trust community members have on LatinX Outreach is what makes our projects successful, allowing us to reach and surpass our goals whilst the community recommends our services through word of mouth, increasing in turn the scope and scale of everything that we do.
OUR
PROMOTORA
MODEL
Our Promotoras act as effective “pollinators of information,” bridging the gap between governments, non-governmental organizations, and the communities they serve. Using their social networks, our Promotoras become change agents by providing access to vital resources and empowering communities to create meaningful, lasting change. Trust and connection among the community.
Our Promotoras are equipped with the tools and training needed to become effective and knowledgeable leaders in their communities, helping ensure that quality attention and access to resources is available to everyone.
By fostering a sense of collective responsibility and empowering individuals within communities to become agents of change, we are striving to create lasting and meaningful systems change.
To conduct community outreach, our Promotoras have been previously empowered as leaders through a comprehensive education and leadership development process.
The training process includes content in personal growth, neurolinguistics and community psychology to ensure that the quality of attention they provide to the population is of high standard and that it enables access to vital services for the communities we serve.
Promotoras bridge communities through friends and family, from there they knit a network of trust through the word of mouth of their close contacts. This mechanism allows them to scale their outreach gradually and consistently through their entire community, reaching many of its members.
Promotoras are able to get a deeper community understanding by layering their in-community experience and providing additional insights directly from the community, leading to successful engagements and being able to identify priority needs. With this information at hand, we design programs tailored to those specific needs.
We see community empowerment is an essential element in any system change. Strong communities are places where people can come together and work together to build better futures for their families and their communities.
When individuals and groups are empowered to work together to create positive change, they can establish stronger social networks that will become the backbone and foundation of any systemic, long-lasting impact.
Personal empowerment is becoming increasingly important in local, unseen communities. Discriminatory and oppressive systems leave local communities with limited access to resources, systemic exclusion, and a sense of voicelessness in determining their own path forward.
By equipping community members with the tools to develop self-awareness, confidence and personal growth, we can trigger them to think critically, create effective strategies, and take initiative to ensure their community’s needs are addressed, thus finding pathways to break through these barriers and create meaningful change in their own lives and those of their local communities.
Furthermore, personal empowerment can create ripples of change in a community, inspiring and motivating others to take action.
Through our network of Promotoras we provide access to basic resources such as healthcare, education, and financial needs connecting the community with other organizations or distributing resources that we have available. Providing help in the basic areas is essential in creating a fair and equitable society. When these resources are made accessible to all, individuals and families can lead healthier, more fulfilled lives.
Through our Promotora Model, LatinX is committed to addressing broken systems that negatively impact communities. We believe in bringing all voices to the table — including those with and without traditional institutional power. By providing a direct link to these communities through trusted, accountable Promotoras, we can successfully scale programs that support the dignity and wellness of Washington communities.
